There is nothing better than the welcoming smell of a delicious dinner after a hard day’s work. However, finding free time to prepare it can be a problem. How to cook without having time to cook?
Plan your meals wisely
Organize your schedule so that you always have food ready for the next few hours. For example, you could make yourself a sandwich every night for a second breakfast at work, or cook a simple meal that will be waiting for you in the fridge the rest of the day. Equally important is a well-stocked refrigerator. By making sure your favourite ingredients are always on hand, you won’t waste time on trips to the supermarket to pick up those carrots you ran out of. Keep a running tally of what you need to stock up on, and keep your shopping list in a prominent place, such as on your fridge or cupboard door.
It’s a good idea to cook larger portions with a view to freezing them later. This way, time spent on one dish will result in meals for several days.
Difficult problems need simple solutions
Plan uncomplicated but healthy meals that you can prepare in less than 30 minutes. Fruit and vegetable shakes or smoothies are great choices, as long as you have a blender in your kitchen. If you need something even more filling, reach for muesli or prepare overnight oatmeal.
Many salads don’t require you to have any special cooking skills other than throwing chopped ingredients into a bowl and mixing them together. If the thought of eating salads every day scares you, don’t worry, there are plenty of tasty recipes that just might work for you. We recommend combining fresh soy sprouts with Mediterranean cheese and hummus.
In an emergency, reach for a slice of dark bread and garnish it with a thin slice of avocado. Pepper and thinly sliced garlic are the perfect finishing touches to this express sandwich that shouldn’t take you more than five minutes to prepare.
If none of these ideas appeal to you, look online for other recipes. You can also take a different tack and choose a dish that won’t require more than one pot to prepare, to save time not on cooking but on washing dirty dishes.

Make friends with the slow cooker
The slow cooker is an appliance well known and appreciated by Americans. Unfortunately, its popularity has not been transferred to the Polish reality. Too bad, because many of us could save time thanks to it.
Its name comes from the fact that the cooking process takes place very slowly, from three to even eight hours, at a critically low temperature. Sounds uninviting? It may seem so because of the long cooking time. But in fact, the slow cooker doesn’t require us to constantly keep an eye on how our dish is doing. Preparing a meal is based on throwing all the ingredients into the pot, which takes a maximum of fifteen minutes. Then you can go about your work in peace, letting the slow cooker do its magic so that you can come back to a delicious and, above all, warm meal at the end of the day.
