5 reasons to include soups in your daily menu

Soups seem to be receding into the background these days, especially in the face of more and more new dishes. However, it is by no means worth giving them up – soup is a tasty and, above all, healthy dish for which we should definitely find a place in our daily diet!

Soups – an affordable source of vegetables

Based on research, it is assumed that in order to provide the body with the right amount of vitamins and minerals, we should consume 0.5 kg of vegetables daily. However, the facts are that few people meet this minimum. This problem affects not only the youngest, but also adults and seniors.

If, despite many attempts, we still can’t convince ourselves to eat vegetables in their classic form, then a great solution can be various types of vegetable soups, which are a valuable alternative. There are only two things to keep in mind – vegetable soup is cooked for a short time (up to 15 minutes) and under a lid (this does not apply to brassica vegetables). Then the dish will retain most of the nutrients and we will be able to equip our body with a whole range of vitamins!

Soups are not fattening

Soups are a type of meal that you do not have to give up even during a weight loss diet. On the contrary, they are even an ideal dish for people who care about losing a few pounds. Why? Pure soup cooked on vegetable stock has the advantage that it is filling, but not caloric and therefore not fattening. For example, a serving of vegetable soup, which consists of 300 g, provides only about 100 calories! Soups cooked with broth from lean meat or poultry without skin can also be a good alternative. After eating such a meal, you will experience a feeling of satiety without bombarding your body with calories and leave less room for the – usually more caloric – second course.

Soups – easy and undemanding in preparation

This is an argument that is sure to appeal to all those who are not fond of kitchen conquests or simply do not have time for such. Soups are usually so simple to prepare that they can be cooked by virtually anyone – regardless of skill. For example, you can prepare a soup from frozen food in just a few minutes. Then you only need to enrich it with additions such as groats, pasta, potatoes or rice and you get a ready meal!

Soups warm up like no other dish

During the autumn and winter period, it is worth at least partially giving up cold dishes and replacing them with warm ones. Cold dishes further cool the body, which can result in a weakened immune system and various infections. Then hot soups come to our aid, thanks to which we not only warm up the whole body, but also eat a valuable meal. If we enrich the hot soup with green vegetables or onions and garlic, famous for their health-promoting properties, we get a veritable vitamin bomb that will equip our body with new strength to fight various viruses and bacteria.

Soups are a treasure trove of nutrients

Thanks to their diversity, soups combine an extremely wide range of ingredients – from meat and fats to vegetables, cereals or rice. This is, of course, reflected in the amount of nutrients we are able to supply to the body through regular consumption of a variety of soups. Vitamins, minerals, protein, fat and carbohydrates – we can assimilate all of these through soup!
